During my lesson the other day I had a breakthrough with my position. I couldn't believe how much better it felt when I got it right, and I commented to my trainer how I was kind of mad at myself that I had been doing it so wrong. But, knowing the struggles I've gone through with my body, she said that I probably wasn't really capable of holding the correct position until now.
For so long I overcompensated for pain and weak areas in my body and it became "normal". I'm finally starting to undo all that damage and I owe all the credit to yoga and Elysian Movement. Laurel has done so much for my body and my riding, and morning yoga classes have become my favorite way to start the day!
I started my yoga journey 8 months ago after getting fed up with how the pain and stiffness I was experiencing in the saddle were negatively impacting my riding. As someone who has never been at all flexible I was nervous about getting started, but Laurel's classes are perfect for all levels, and wonderfully tailored for the issues we experience as equestrians. My position in the saddle has improved so much, and my body feels better than it has in years!
As equestrians we are athletes, and it's important to take as good care of our bodies as we do of our horse's. If you're in need of some self-care join us for a class!
